That Year

That Year

It seems like every day is just like today
And I’m sitting here wondering why
I spend my time as I do
And the years have rolled in one
Blanket that’s permanently grey

When a man leaves forever
No place feels like home
His heart becomes an open road
And he walks stony ground
The wind steals the leaves from the trees
– They’ll never be found

I recall walking up Richmond Road
Kids by my side. They were asking
Is it far? And I said No
We’ll all soon be inside
Little feet skipping cracks in the heat
Want a piggyback ride

That year when your sweet love died
That year when my heart really tried
That year when your sweet love died
That year when my soul finally cried
